2024 Planner/Journal Stack

I’m starting the year with 1 planner and 3 journals. I say starting because I may add some others along the way. Let me tell you how I’m using each one and links for some of the things I’m using will be at the bottom of the page.

Hobonichi Weeks

For my every day planner, I am using the Hobonichi Weeks. I wanted something slim and simple as my EDC planner tends to be on the minimalist side. I literally use it as a planner and a notebook so it’s pretty basic and I only use a few stickers and minimal decoration.

My Weeks is from the paper series in the pale blue-green. I picked this colour because it reminded me of Tiffancy & Co – one of my fave jewelers. I have it a taupe Moterm cover which gives me a few extra pockets. On the left hand side you can just see some things sticking out of pocket. This is where I keep any gift certificates I may have (I got a few as Christmas presents from some of my bosses) as well as my monthly allowance for books.

I use a Pilot Acro 1000 ball pen with this planner together with a pastel highlighter. When I set it up my planner, I did use some Muji gel pens for colour. I use a different colour to indicate birthdays (green), public holidays (pink) and special days (brown). I will also be using another colour for work related events like leave or WFH (purple).

On the left hand side, I’ve split the page into two columns. The first colum is where I have birthdays, holidays etc, which the second column is where I write any appointments I may have. On the right hand side, I’ve also split the page into two columns. In the first column at the top I list my tasks for the week and in the second column I have my trackers. At the moment I only track my reading and my no spending challenges. I leave the lower part of the page to note down my bills and my car rental information when needed.

Daily Journal

For my daily journal, I am using 2 half year B6 Stalogy notebooks with the frid paper. I’ve covered the notebooks with MT Casa Remake sheet that I got from my local Daiso if not they would just be boring black covers. The labels on the front are made using letterpress labels and stamps I have.

I tipped in some monthly dividers using card dividers from my office with pictures printed on tracing paper in front. I tipped the dividers in to give me another pages for every day of the year as well as to section off each month. I use a different photo for each month and all the photos were taken by me. On the card dividers themselves, I’ve used mini monthly calendar stickers – you just make it out behind the picture.

My plan is to use a wide washi tape to decorate the page and the rest is just me writing down my daily thoughts and happenings. I got my washi tape from The Washi Shop and the one I used for January is Dusty Blue and Cinnamon. I’ve blurred out the body of my writing as you don’t need to know how boring my life can be hahaha. As for what I use to write, well I actually mix it up and use a variety of pens from Pentel Energels to Paper Mate Inkjoys to Uniball Signo Micro 207s. The main thing is that the ink is always black.

Creative Journal

I actually hadn’t planned on having a creative journal but I was given this pocket Moleskine Daily Planner by one of my bosses for Christmas. She knew that I always carried a small notebook/planner so thought I would like it. Not exactly what I use for my EDC but I thought it would be good for this purpose.

I keep things very simple in this and every pick something that happened on that particular day (like a new movie I watched or a special meal I had, etc) or in the event that nothing major happened then I will either use one of the prompts I have saved or just fill the page with stickers. I use stickers, photos (printed either using my Canon Selphy Square or my HP Sprocket) or prints from my little thermal printer.

Book Journal

I’ve actually been using this since last year. I have 3 sections in – (1) my reading challenge bookshelf. My goal this year is 100 books and I colour in a book everytime I finish one. (2) My books I’ve read record. This is just a list of the books I’ve read each month and I note when I started reading and when I finished it, how many pages and in what format I have it. I also have an electronic version of this record using an Excel Worksheet so that I can a running track on my challenge. (3) Is My Library. This is just a record of the books I read as I read them with a picture of the front cover of the book (see above). This is where I indicate my star rating. I will usually pick 12 books ahead of time so that I can print out one page of this record with the covers on them.

I use an A5 20 ring binder and paper for this journal. You can buy the paper already hole-punched and I print directly onto the paper.

At that’s all the planners and journals I’ve started with this year though I suspect I may add another one or two before the year is up.
