Personalizing my luggage – the aftermath

A few posts ago I wrote about how I had personalized my luggage using vinyl stickers I had cut with my Cricut.

Well now that my luggage has gone to Bangkok and back, I can show you the state of my vinyl stickers.

As you can see, the one of the front came out fine and it did help me locate my luggage from afar.

The monogram on the back however had a little mishap. When I got my luggage off the belt in Bangkok, part of the M was missing and the F was partially off. I managed to stick the F back down and it survived the trip back – the photo above is taken after I got home.

I believe the issue is not the sticker but the fact that I may not have actually rubbed the sticker down hard enough. I made sure to rub the front one a number of times because I was a little worried about the surface (there is some texture) but may not have done that with the back as it’s a smooth surface.

Overall, I’m pleased with how it went and I have another set of luggage I intend to add vinyl stickers too for my upcoming US trip. I have a post about those once I’m back from that trip so that I can do the before and after in one post.

  1. May be put an additional layer of clear vinyl over the whole design. Although I guess it is fairly easy to recreate/replace if it get badly damaged.
