I always make it a point to travel as much as I can.
I sort of have a guranteed vacation coutesy of my firm’s annual trip and then on top of that that, I take one or two trips. For 2017, I’ll be going on a total of two trips.
My first trip will be my firm’s trip. We’re heading to Bangkok early August for 3 days and 2 nights. This is an annual freebie trip – the firm pays for and arranges airfare, hotel and airport-hotel transfer, while all I have to do is bring spending money. We also get daily breakfast and have a company dinner one of the nights. Half of my firm will go on a Friday and come back Sunday while the other half goes on Saturday and comes back on Monday. we have to this so that we don’t close the firm and also because of the sheer number of people going – about 600 people and that’s just from my firm, we have 3 affiliate offices from the region that join us as well. We usually have our company dinner on the Saturday night because that is the one night where every one is there.
My second trip will be to the US so that I can pay my bestie a visit. She lives in Kansas and I used to visit her every couple of years but it’s turned into an annual event over the last three years hehehe not that either of us are complaining haha. I’ll be heading over to visit her and her family for the month of September (yup you read right, the month of September). I love that I can have a one month vacay spending every day with my bestie especially given that we have been friends for 30 years but spent almost all of it living in two different contenients – it’s pretty amazing that we’ve maintained this close friendship but hey she’s my Sister from a different father, different mother.
I always think it’s important to take a break now and again, even if it’s just for a long weekend and traveling alone doesn’t hold me back either sometimes traveling alone can be more enjoyable.
