So I’ve decided to make the change to products that don’t contain sulfates or parabens. Not exactly an easy thing to do here given that the selection is pretty limited, but I did a little research and I found some brands and products that are available.
Why the switch? Well why not? I have slightly sensitive skin, especially on my scalp, so sometimes if I use shampoos that have SLS, the skin around my forehead will get slightly red. Another thing is that I find that I have a lot of hair dropping, so I figured if switching to a shampoo without SLS will help, then why not.
If you’re going to switch one item, then why not switch them all. So I’ve switched my body wash and toothpaste – yes, most toothpastes have SLS in them! So here’s what I’ve picked:
For my body wash, I’ve picked Shokubutsu Revitalizing Beauty a Body Foam. Not all of Shokubutsu’s body foams are sulfate free but thankfully this range is. This particular one has grape essence and rice ceramide which are supposed to “help improve skin’s elasticity, moisturizer and protect against premature ageing”. There were a few other products available but this brand is the more reasonable priced one and I’ve used and liked their products before.
For shampoo, my choices are pretty limited but there is one particular range I’ve seen in a number of places and that’s L’Oreal’s Everstrong range. The one I picked up is the anti-breakage one. Haven’t really used L’Oreal shampoos before so I’ll let you know how this one goes at a later date.
For toothpaste, there is really only one brand that’s readily available here and that’s Sensodyne. I know this brand is known for being for sensitive teeth but I don’t see why it can’t be used for non-sensitive teeth lol. I checked a few different kinds of Sensodyne toothpastes and all of them seem to be sulfate free. I opted for the gum care one.
The next thing I’ll change is my skin care products and I’ve already got that planned out but I’ll keep that for another post.
